House Rules
- SoTFest has zero tolerance regarding; demeaning language, threats, hate crimes as well as statements that threaten or express contempt of ethnicity, religious belief, sexual orientation and gender identity.
- The Cosplay Competition may be streamed or recorded and published as a VOD.
- By signing up to the SoTFest Cosplay Competition all contestants consent to have their photo taken and used by SoTFest. Your photo may be shared on social media, the SoTFest website, and any other affiliated platforms. It may also be used for promotional materials now and in the future.
- The organizer reserves the right to refuse a visitor’s admission to the event site for important reasons. If there is an important reason for the refusal of admission, the tickets lose their validity and the admission price will not be refunded.
Costuming & Cosplay and Competition Rules
We have a general set of cosplay rules and we kindly ask that you check them out below. If you have any questions please contact us.
- Participants must have a valid ticket to enter the competition.
- All applications must be filled in before the competition.
- There is a maximum of 30 Performance Slots. Sign-up closes if the capacity is full.
- We allow solo entries and group entries (up to 4 P.p. group). Groups count for 1 slot.
- Each contestant may only enter one costume into the competition.
- You need to upload a reference during the application process so that the judges can judge the accuracy of your costume. It should be a full-color picture of the character from as many angles as possible.
- The costume must be based on Sea of Thieves or related entertainment franchises.
- Parts of the costume may be store-bought however cosplay must be at least 50% handmade or modified by the contestant.
- No symbols of provocative themes, offensive language or racism are allowed.
- Costumes must provide enough body coverage to be worn in public.
- Do not wear or use anything that will damage, destroy, or ruin the costumes of other attendants or the venue space
- Contestants must treat judges, staff, and fellow contestants with respect.
- You will be presenting your Creations on stage with a 30 second performance to the music of our choice. Afterwards, the Judges will inspect your Outfit and eventually ask Questions.
- Skits and other big performances are not allowed. The contest will be walk-on only.
- Sound, Lights and stage props will all be pre-prepared. Contestants can not in any way affect the SoTFest stage setup.
- Do not use any sort of projectile at all! Nothing must leave your person while you are on stage that will leave a mess. This includes (but is not limited to) liquids, glitter, and confetti.
- You must be able to carry, and have your props with you on stage during the show.
- A Changing room is available at this event. SoTFest is not liable for any loss or damage to objects left in the changing room.
- Contestants are encouraged to notify SoTFest if they have any physical or visual impairments that would require accommodations for walking on stage.
- SoTFest can not be held responsible for any damage that might come to the costume while at the convention.
Anyone who violates these rules may be disqualified from the competition and may be asked to leave the convention area!
Weapon Rules
We want everyone to stay safe, and to ensure the safety of all guests we ask that you follow our weapon rules!
- If it is illegal outside SoTFest, it is illegal inside SoTFest. Please ensure the safety of everyone by following UK weapon regulations at all times.
- The costume cannot include any sharp-edged weapons or any functional projectile weapon.
- Do not point or threaten weapons at guests who have not given their consent.
Limitations of Liability
SoTFest is not responsible for:
- Any incorrect or inaccurate information or data, whether caused by entrant, typographical errors, printing errors or by any of the equipment associated with or utilized in SoTFest Cosplay Competitions.
- Technical faults or failures of any kind, including (but not limited to) malfunctions, interruptions or disconnections in network hardware or software;
- Unauthorized human intervention in any part of the application process or during the event.
- Technical or human error which may occur in the administration or the processing of entries and applications.
